Wisdom

Author: Rev. Kahlil Carmichael

When we seek God for an answer to a prayer we usually are looking for a specific action to be fulfilled or an answer.  And we should expect this.  But what if like King Solomon we went to God and asked Him for wisdom to navigate through our lives, before we fall into the situations and pitfalls that later cause us to turn to God for solutions?  I have experienced first-hand the consequences of making unwise decisions and choices in my life.  But because of God’s grace and mercy I am able to endure the lasting repercussions of these choices.  I am acutely aware however that if I had sought God’s wisdom and not acted according to my own understanding, I would have experienced better results.

In Proverbs 4:5-8 Solomon speaks these powerful words of instruction, “Get wisdom!  Get understanding!  Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.  Do not forsake her [wisdom] and she will preserve you; Love her and she will keep you.  Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom.  And in all your getting get understanding.  Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor when you embrace her.”  Wow, I don’t know about you but I get excited in knowing that if I simply learn to seek God’s wisdom in all my decisions He truly will work all things together for my good. (Romans 8:28)

I pray that you will follow King Solomon’s advice and get wisdom and live the life that God truly desires for you to live.
